There are other seasons when we can only see the next step. Much of my journey has belonged to the second category. Twenty-seven years ago, while I was in my final year studying microbiology at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, I had an encounter that I have never forgotten. I still remember where I was. I would describe the experience as a vision, but what stands out to me today is not that it gave me a detailed map of my future. Rather, it confirmed something I had already been sensing for some time: my future path might not ultimately lie in the discipline I was studying. Leadership & Governance: A Biblical Perspective for Nigeria Nigeria turns 66. Every Independence Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the journey of a nation that gained independence on October 1, 1960. It is a day to remember the sacrifices of those who came before us, appreciate how far we have travelled, acknowledge the challenges that remain, and consider the future we are building together. But perhaps Independence Day should also make us ask a more searching question: What kind of nation are we building? It is easy to speak about the Nigeria we want. We want a peaceful nation. A just nation. A prosperous nation. A secure nation.
